Attorney Panel to Discuss TCPA, FCC Actions at Washington Insights Conference

Speakers will present ACA members with the latest updates on the law and the FCC’s Declaratory Ruling and Order since last year.

A panel of attorneys will speak Thursday, April 21, during ACA’s Washington Insights Conference, to discuss latest developments with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act affecting the credit and collection industry.

The expert speakers include Brian Melendez, ACA’s outside counsel, a former president of the Minnesota State Bar Association and the managing partner of the Minneapolis office of Dykema Gossett PLLC; Monica Desai, partner with Squire Patton Boggs in Washington, D.C.; and Shay Dvoretzky, a partner at Jones Day in Washington, D.C. The attorneys are leading ACA’s TCPA lawsuit against the Federal Communications Commission, ACA Int’l et al. v. FCC et al.

Desai spoke during last year’s conference to provide an update on TCPA reform. She advises clients from the technology and communications sectors on the regulation of their industry by the Federal Communications Commission.

Melendez practices primarily in consumer-credit litigation and has litigated class actions and other cases in federal and state courts throughout the United States involving the Truth in Lending Act, the Fair Credit Billing Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Fair & Accurate Credit Transactions Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the TCPA.

Dvoretzky focuses on appellate advocacy, complex trial-level motions and strategic counseling and has case experience in labor law, employment discrimination, class actions, bankruptcy and more.

Attendees will hear the panel’s perspective on the TCPA since the FCC enacted its Declaratory Ruling and Order in 2015 during the conference, sponsored by LexisNexis Risk Solutions.
